A section of the technical report that I feel like I contributed

3.1 Increased Safety For Road Users By improving visibility and traffic flow, the risk of accidents will also be greatly reduced. Through the implementation of Smart Roundabouts, road users will be more informed of incoming vehicles, thus greatly reducing the chance of getting into an accident.  Needless to say, roundabouts in general already improve overall safety performance, but with the added edge lights, they reduce the chance even further. According to Broom (2021), since 2016, the state of Indiana has replaced traffic lights with 256 roundabouts. The installation of roundabouts in Indiana has resulted in a decrease in accidents. There is a 90% decrease in fatalities, a 76% reduction in injuries, and a 30%–40% decline in pedestrian-related accidents. Additionally, with Smart Roundabouts, it hopes to reduce the fatality rates even further, making it safer for all road users. 3.2 Reduced Carbon Emissions When there is traffic delay, it would increase idling vehicles which can be

Critical Reflection #2

Module Learning: At the start of the module, I set several goals for myself, including improving my critical thinking and reflection skills. Through this course, I have gained a greater understanding of critical thinking and how it applies to everyday life. I have learned how to identify, analyze, and evaluate arguments and how to make well-reasoned decisions based on evidence. One of the key ways I have developed my critical thinking skills is through the assignments and activities that required me to analyze and evaluate various arguments. I found the use of different tools and techniques, such as Paul Elder’s Critical Thinking Framework, extremely helpful in identifying and evaluating the quality of arguments. I also improved my critical reflection skills through the various reflective exercises and assignments. I have learned how to reflect on my assumptions and biases and question my beliefs and values. This has helped me become more self-aware and open-minded, which are essenti

Summary Reader Response #3

Cleaning Robots The webpage, “A Whiz at commercial cleaning," from SoftBank Robotics (n.d.), introduces the functions and features of Whiz, an “autonomous vacuum sweeper” that not only “uses a trusted AI platform” to provide “higher quality and more efficient cleaning", but also has proof of the overall performance of the system (SoftBank Robotics, n.d., p.1). To have safety precautions when the Whiz is operating, some safety features are being implemented. It consists of a LIDAR sensor, a 3D camera, a sensor-installed bumper, cliff sensors, wheel contact sensors, and an emergency brake function. According to the Whiz webpage, the LIDAR sensors and the 3D camera are used for obstacle detection and fall prevention. The sensor-installed bumper is for impact detection. And lastly, the cliff sensors, wheel contact sensors, and emergency brake function are for anomaly detection. In addition to the safety features, there are also alert functions such as a notification pager, whic
